Last week I read on Mike Blumenthal’s blog about reports of business owners complaining about their Google+ Local listings being deleted.  Just today, Mike provided two examples of recorded calls of people claiming to be from Google calling to verify business names and addresses.

Like most folks, I’m dumbfounded how Google could be so short minded to think that SMBs would think this was not some unsolicited telemarketer attempting to sell some service.

YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THESE RECORDINGS!  Have your staff listen to these!  They need to make sure they don’t hang up if they get a call from someone claiming to be with Google.  Make sure they verify your business information.

I know that the front desk can be hectic and taking care of patients is priority one, but hanging up on these calls can result in Google deleting your Google+ Local listing.  Yes… I know this is ridiculous.  But Google owns search.
